About the Scholarship

Seng’s Marina has a continued tradition of community service throughout Manistee County, and would like to reward outstanding students who share this virtue. The Eva Seng Memorial Good Works Scholarship promotes volunteer community service and civic engagement for Manistee County high school students. This scholarship program recognizes high school seniors for outstanding volunteer service to their community and neighbors.

Up to five $1000 scholarships are annually awarded by Seng’s Marina through a partnership with The Manistee County Community Foundation. Students who have demonstrated compassion for others, and have dedicated themselves to servicing those in need are encouraged to apply.

Applicants must be current high school seniors enrolled in one of the Manistee County school districts. Recipients of the scholarship must plan to attend an institution of post-secondary education (i.e. university, college, trade or tech school, etc.).

About Eva

After losing a hard-fought battle with cancer in March of 2008, Eva Seng will forever be remembered as an individual dedicated to the betterment of her community- especially its youth. Eva knew that greatness existed in young people beyond what was seen on report cards or in the media. For Eva, this greatness was obtained through the selfless service of others, and was something that could be obtained by anyone.

In 2006 Eva founded what would become the Eva Seng Memorial Good Works Scholarship as a way to encourage both civic engagement and social responsibility in community youth. She has since ushered many high-school students in the Manistee Community on to higher education and a lifetime of giving. Eva was adamant that the scholarship hold no GPA requirements, because for her, every young person has the ability to creatively solve community issues.
